Has your red envelope arrived?
By now you should have received an invitation to the incredible, and sadly final South Carolina Pinto Horse Association Awards Banquet. While we celebrate and reward the accomplishments of SCPTHA members and mounts, we are excited to acknowledge and embrace the transition of the South Carolina Pinto Horse Association to the:
LowCountry Horse Show Association
Welcoming All Breeds; Celebrating All Disciplines
As was discussed at the November general membership meeting, the SCPTHA has not been recognized by the state of South Carolina as a non-profit organization for quite some time. Your board has tirelessly worked with the state to resolve this item and has sought the advice of professionals. We have also reviewed the participation and population of registered active Pinto Horse Association members and horses which has steadily declined over the years.
Your board has decided to form and brand a new organizational name and state recognized framework that will be immediately recognizable as an equestrian association open to all breeds. But we are not leaving our wonderful Pinto heritage behind. We will continue to recognize and award the Earl Browning accomplishments. We will continue to offer color horse classes—and have expanded these classes in an incredible new show program. We will continue to recognize the year end high point Pinto horses, but want to expand that recognition to other registered breed associations, such as APHA, AQHA. As you will notice from the 2010 membership application, it is not a requirement to show a breed registered horse….but we will take the time to track that information so that we may recognize and reward those accomplishments at yearend.
The Lowcounty Horse Show Association has an exciting show program to offer for 2010. A program that will encourage exhibitors of all Halter, Showmanship, Western, English and Hunters to compete in a fun and family friendly environment. As before we will have our Open show rings running alongside our Hunter show rings with a place for everyone. The LowCountry Horse Show Association will continue to offer and expand some of your favorite classes and divisions-- but are you ready for some Reining, Rusty Spur, Kings/Queen’s Horsemanship, Handy Hunter and even Trainer’s classes? And wait until you see the interesting courses and heights from Walk/Trot over Poles all the way up to 3' 6" Divisions for our Hunter ring programs, which will follow the guidelines of the South Carolina Hunter Jumper Association.
Show Programs will be presented at the banquet and posted on our new website http://www.lowcountryhorseshow.com. We’ve planned the February 20th show as a schooling program to allow new members and old to compete in their favorites and try out new classes.
Your SCPTHA board has covered a lot of ground this year and is eager to successfully transition and grow this membership in the LCHSA—remember an important aspect of the award banquet is the kick off of this 2010 season and this incredible organization. Election of board members and officers will be an important agenda item of this event. Many current board members are committed to continue this progress and will run for re-election, but there is always the call for additional volunteers to throw their name in the hat and on the ballot. And to all you number crunchers, we currently have no nominations for Treasurer, so please consider completing and submitting a nomination form.
